‘Yellowjackets’ Renewed for Season 4 at Showtime

Yellowjackets” has been renewed for Season 4 at Paramount+ with Showtime, Variety has learned.

The news comes roughly one month after the Season 3 finale of the popular drama series, which aired on April 13. The series hails from creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The exact start date for production on the new season will be announced soon.

“‘Yellowjackets’ has become a cultural juggernaut, with season three shattering all previous records – we are thrilled to announce its renewal for a season four on Paramount+,” said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “Ashley and Bart have masterfully crafted an utterly singular, genre-defying phenomenon— a perfect alchemy of psychological horror, survival thriller, and coming-of-age drama that continues to captivate audiences worldwide, brought to life by our extraordinarily talented and beloved cast.”

Per Paramount, Season 3 of “Yellowjackets” was the most-watched season of the show to date, with the finale marking the most-watched episode ins series history. The show has received 10 Emmy nominations to date, including consecutive nods for best drama and best actress in a drama (Lynskey).

Season 3 of “Yellowjackets” starred Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell. Elijah Wood appeared in a recurring role, while Hilary Swank, Joel McHale, and Ashley Sutton appeared in guest star roles.

Lyle, Nickerson and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco are all executive producers on the series. Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serves as executive producer along with Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon. The series is produced for Showtime by Lionsgate Television and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The official series description states at the show is the “saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, the series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”
