President Trump interrupted the annual SNL “Mother’s Day Message” to talk about current events.

The show began as the Mother’s Day episode usually does, with cast members bringing their real-life mothers on and doing a bit with them. But while Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernandez and Bowen Yang started the sketch accordingly, James Austin Johnson’s Trump dropped by to stop it cold because, as he said, he is “invading all aspects of your life.”

From there, he riffed on the new pope being from Chicago (cue a “Da Prayers” joke as a meta “Saturday Night Live” joke.)

Trump also noted that, worst-case scenario for Leo XIV, he could “send J.D. to do his thing,” alluding to the fact that the previous Catholic leader, Pope Francis, died shortly after meeting with Vice President J.D. Vance.

He also spoke about the continuing American trade woes, asking, “Can a country go out of business? We’re going to find out.”

Former cast member Cecily Strong then dropped by to reprise her role as Jeanine Pirro, who Trump recently named as Interim U.S. Attorney in Washington. Colin Jost also stopped by to portray secretary of defense Pete Hegseth, who commiserated in drinking with Pirro.
