“Temptation Island” has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix, Variety has learned exclusively.
The reality series debuted its first season on the streaming giant (and ninth season overall) on March 12. The show made the Global Top 10 list for one week and spent three weeks on the U.S. Top 10 TV list. The show originally aired on Fox from 2001-2003, and was then revived at USA Network in 2019 for five more seasons before it moved to Netflix.
Season 2 of “Temptation Island” at Netflix is now casting. Mark L. Walberg will return as the host. The official series synopsis states:
“In this brand new season of ‘Temptation Island,’ emotions will run high when four couples, each at a crossroads in their relationship, head to Temptation Island to put their love to the ultimate test as they agree to live separately with a group of singles of the opposite sex. Will the choices they make push the couples closer together or farther apart into the arms of a new lover?”
David Goldberg and David Friedman serve as executive producers on the show, which is produced by Banijay Studios North America.
In an interview with Variety following the season finale, Goldberg discussed the casting process that goes into choosing couples that appear on the show.
“It’s really about the couples and the problems they’re having in the real world,” he said. “A lot of people look at ‘Temptation Island’ and say it’s a show that seeks to break up relationships. We look at it differently, and see a show that tests relationships. Couples don’t come on ‘Temptation Island’ because everything is great. They come on because there’s a problem and they want to know if it’s time to you-know-what or get off the pot. It’s not that much different than couples in real life saying, ‘I think we need to take a break.'”
