Famed director Steven Spielberg has filmed a new, special introduction to his landmark 1975 film “Jaws,” which will air over three hours on June 20 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC — the exact 50th anniversary date of when it was released. The NBC screening and Spielberg’s introduction are just some of the plans NBCUniversal has to mark the anniversary.

NBCUniversal is also coordinating with Major League Baseball for in-stadium activations around the country. Themed home games for the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies will take place between June 20 and 22, and feature themed home games with “custom scoreboard content, exclusive fan giveaways and more.”

Also in the cards is a full watch-at-home plan for the 50th anniversary of “Jaws,” the film that ushered in the age of the summer blockbuster. That includes an exclusive run of “Jaws” on Peacock through July 14; that will also feature all four films from the franchise and Spielberg’s introduction.

Starting June 15, Peacock will also feature a row called “Trouble in the Water” that includes the “Jaws” films and others that felt right for this collection:  “Piranha, “47 Meters Down,” “Night Swim” and “Captain Phillips.”

On home video, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing the “Jaws” 50th anniversary edition on digital and combo pack (4K, Blu-ray and digital) on June 17. That includes the new doc “Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Story,” directed by Laurent Bouzereau and from National Geographic in partnership with Spielberg’s Amblin Documentaries, Nedland Media and Wendy Benchley.

Timed to the anniversary, new “Jaws” products in verticals including fashion, toys, publishing, collectible and more are in the works.

“Universal is home to the biggest movies in the world and it doesn’t get any bigger than ‘Jaws,’” said Jenny Storms, chief marketing officer, NBCUniversal Television & Streaming. “We want to celebrate 50 years of this enduring film that has captured the public imagination for generations by bringing it to audiences at home in all the ways they love to watch.”
