‘Star Wars’ Darth Maul Animated Series Coming to Disney+ Next Year, With Sam Witwer Voicing Villain

A new “Star Wars” animated series focusing on Darth Maul is coming to Disney+ in 2026, with Sam Witwer returning to voice the iconic villain.

The news was announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo on Friday, with Witwer on hand. The show’s title is “Maul — Shadow Lord,” and will mark Witwer’s fourth time providing the antagonist’s evil tone. He has previously voiced Maul in animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels,” as well as in the 2018 film “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni and VP of animation Athene Portillo revealed a surprise sneak peek at the series during a panel spotlighting 20 years of Lucasfilm Animation. The final shot of a video celebrating the anniversary appeared to be from the new Maul series, making the crowd go wild.
