Sky Unveil New Dramas, Acquisitions at Preview Event

Comcast-owned network Sky has revealed its upcoming slate in the U.K. as it seeks to bolster its content following the dissolution of its deal with HBO.

Among the Sky Originals coming to the network are “Meantime,” a new crime thriller starring James McAvoy, which is currently in production, inheritance drama “Possession” from Karla Crome starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Season 2 of “Sweetpea” with Ella Purnell.

It will also broadcast “Heated Rivalry” Season 2 next year along with mystery thriller “Yaga” plus “Superfakes,” a crime drama exec produced by and starring Lucy Liu, Keke Palmer-starrer “The ‘Burbs” (coming April 1) and upcoming Emilia Clarke series “Ponies,” which is set to land in May.

Other acquisitions include “Euphoria” Season 3, “The Miniature Wife” and “House of the Dragon” Season 3.

The unscripted slate meanwhile includes “Saturday Night Live U.K.” which launches this weekend with Tina Fey doing inaugural hosting duties, a new format for competition show “Landscape Artist of the Year,” and “100 Day Split,” a 12-part series following couples who embark on a reset by living apart for 100 days.

Finally the film slate encompasses Jo Nesbø adaptation “Blood on the Snow” from Cary Joji Fukunaga, Aardman’s “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom,” Ashley Walters’ feature debut “Animol,” Aaron Taylor Johnson-starrer “Fuze” and “Mutiny,” which features Jason Statham.

The preview event included remarks from Sky Studios boss Cecile Frot-Coutaz with appearances from talent such as Meghann Fahy, James McAvoy, Ashley Walters, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jack Whitehall, Rob Brydon, Steve Coogan, Gemma Collins, Dani Dyer, Jamie Redknapp and more.
