Reese Witherspoon‘s monthly book club — which just turned eight years old — is now getting a companion podcast. But while Witherspoon will likely make appearances on the show, she’s delegating hosting duties.
The weekly “Bookmarked by Reese’s Book Club” series will be anchored by journalist and TV host Danielle Robay, who will “bring together celebrities, tastemakers, influencers and authors from Reese’s Book Club and beyond to share stories that transcend the page,” according to Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon’s media and production company. The podcast is being co-produced and distributed by iHeartMedia’s iHeartPodcasts division.
The first episode will be available June 24, featuring Robay in conversation with bestselling authors Emily Henry and Yulin Kuang. New episodes will post Tuesdays across all major audio platforms. Robay also hosts the podcast “Question Everything” and E!’s “While You Were Streaming.”
“Bookmarked by Reese’s Book Club” will take “the modern book lover behind the scenes of their favorite stories, characters and authors,” Hello Sunshine says. Each episode will provide “a fresh book recommendation to dive into and share with others” as well as a listener-submitted Q&A segment.
Witherspoon serves as executive producer of “Bookmarked by Reese’s Book Club” alongside Robay, Maureen Polo for Hello Sunshine, and Ali Perry and Conal Byrne for iHeartPodcasts. Hello Sunshine and iHeartPodcasts previously partnered to release “The Bright Side,” a weekly “dose of culture and inspiration” hosted by Simone Boyce, which recently returned for Season 2 last month.
Since Witherspoon launched Reese’s Book Club in 2017, she’s selected more than 100 titles. The book club is part of Hello Sunshine, which produces scripted and unscripted TV, feature films, animated series, podcasts, audio storytelling and digital series. Hello Sunshine is owned by Candle Media, the media roll-up company led by Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs and backed by Blackstone’s private-equity business.
