Plimsoll Productions, which is a part of ITV Studios, has launched Plimsoll Digital — a new digital divsion that will be run by longtime Plimsoll exec Ged Mansfield. Mansfield, who will serve as creative director of development and digital, will report to Plimsoll USA head Alan Eyres.

According to Plimsoll, the new division “will develop digital formats and explore emerging technologies, looking at responsible uses for generative AI to empower creatives.”

Mansfield will utilize the company’s programming archive and library footage that includes natural history, adventure, documentary, and factual entertainment, and work with ITV Studios’ digital content label Zoo 55, which manages Plimsoll’s presence on YouTube and FAST channels.

“Ged’s unique ability to combine vision, production expertise and compelling narratives makes him the ideal leader to craft narratives that captivate audiences across platforms,” said Eyres, who made the announcement Thursday. “His promotion underscores his exceptional leadership and our commitment to embracing new tools and formats to amplify authentic stories.”

Mansfield previously served as creative director of development at Plimsoll Prods. His credits include “A Real Bug’s Life” (Disney+/National Geographic), “Tiny World” (Apple TV+) and “Animal” (Netflix). Up next are “Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters” (ITV1) and “Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston” (Disney +/Nat Geo).

“This is an exciting new chapter — not just for me, but for the way we think about content,” Mansfield said in a statement. “The future of storytelling demands original ideas and thoughtful innovation. We want to create room for our best-in-class creatives to experiment and push the boundaries of what we consider possible in visual storytelling.”

Plimsoll Productions recently earned four Emmys for “A Real Bug’s Life.” Besides “Animal” and “Tiny World,” its other recent credits include “The Devil’s Climb” (Disney+/Hulu/National Geographic) and the upcoming “The Child Who Caught a Killer” (Sky One).
