Indie streamer Nebula has set the leads for its upcoming anthology series “Sub/liminal,” which boasts multiple Broadway staples.
Nebula describes the six-episode series as in the same vein as “The Twilight Zone” and “Black Mirror,” as it “explores power dynamics in human relationships, and what can happen when those relationships fall out of balance.”
Among the stars set to head up “Sub/liminal” are Joseph Cross (”Milk,” “Lincoln,” “Big Little Lies”), Tony winner and Grammy nominee Lena Hall (”Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” ”Your Friends and Neighbors”), Olivier and Grammy nominee Caissie Levy (”Next To Normal”, “Frozen”), Tony and Emmy winner Kecia Lewis (”Hell’s Kitchen”), Tony nominee and Grammy winner Patrick Page (”Hadestown”) and Tony winner John Rubinstein (”Pippin,” “Children of a Lesser God”).
The first season of “Sub/liminal,” which began filming May 19 and is set to premiere in late 2025, includes episodes written and directed by popular creators on the Nebula platform, including Patrick Willems, Amir Moini, Jacob Torpey, Jessie Earl, Joe Scott, Tom van der Linden, Matthew Kelly and Tiana Michele.
Additional cast members for “Sub/liminal” include Amir Arison (”Dope Thief”, “The Blacklist”), Geoffrey Cantor (”Daredevil”), Courtnee Carter (”Crutch”), Ali Cobrin (”American Reunion”), Andrea Cortés (”Bosch: Legacy”), Nick Freni (”Jessica Jones”), Evelyn Giovine (”Audrey’s Children”), Timothy Hughes (”Warriors”, “Sweeney Todd”), Ryan Jamaal Swain (”Pose”), Darius Jordan Lee (”Dexter: Resurrection”), Tony nominee Tom McGowan (”Frasier”), Eric T. Miller (”Mare of Easttown”, “Nyad”), Benjamin Papac (“Harry Potter & The Cursed Child”), Rosa Procaccino (”Humiliation”), Geena Quintos (”Here Lies Love”), Evan Alexander Smith (“Back To The Future: The Musical”) and Ryan Spahn (”Zero Day”).
The series was created by Nebula founder Dave Wiskus who will executive produce alongside Oscar-winning producer Dan Jinks (“American Beauty,” “Big Fish,” “Pushing Daisies”).
“It’s been a lot of fun to discover that the Broadway community’s spirit and ethos are so similar to our own,” Wiskus said. “Benton and Micah built that bridge for us, and they’ve done an amazing job of showing us that our inner child is a theater kid.”
“Sub/liminal” was cast by casting directors Benton Whitley CSA and Micah Johnson-Levy CSA of Whitley Theatrical.
