Motion Picture Exchange (MPX) is launching worldwide sales at the Cannes market on sports comedy “Bulls” starring Michael Shannon, who also produced the indie film set in the world of competitive darts.

“Bulls,” which is helmed by first-time director Dan Meyer, follows two down-on-their-luck half-brothers in Indiana who run a failing dive bar in Indiana and get a shot at taking on England’s elite darts champions.

“They embark on a wild journey — guided by an eccentric local legend with a secret past,” says the provided logline. “With their bar, their pride, and the future of darts in America on the line, the brothers will have to hit the bullseye of their lives.”

The indie film is the second feature from Plot 4 Prods., the company founded by Shannon, Meyer, Christian Chadd Taylor and Seth Henrikson. The film, which is written and directed by Meyer, is produced by Kelsey Bunner, Ryan Lewis, Travis Keyes, Royce Williams and Meyer.

“MPX couldn’t be more excited to partner with Plot 4 Prods. on this smart, heartfelt comedy,” said Ryan Bury, senior VP of MPX. ” ‘Bulls’ hits the bullseye when it comes to blending humor, heart, and inspiration. We’re thrilled to launch sales at Cannes and aim for audiences worldwide.”

Shannon recently starred in TV series such as “George & Tammy” (for which he received an Emmy nomination), “Waco” and “Nine Perfect Strangers.” He has been nominated for two Academy Awards — one for “Nocturnal Animals” and another for “Revolutionary Road.” His other film roles include “The Shape of Water” and his many collaborations with Jeff Nichols on films like “Take Shelter,” “Midnight Special,” “Mud” and “The Bikeriders.”
