Mason Gooding is getting married — in Kevin Hart’s bachelor party comedy “72 Hours.”
I can exclusively reveal that the “Scream” actor is attached to play the groom in the ensemble movie.
News of Mason’s casting follows Variety’s exclusive that “Saturday Night Live” star Marcello Hernandez is playing the groom’s best man and official bachelor party captain.
The Netflix movie stars Hart as a 40-something executive who joins a group of 20-somethings for a wild bachelor party in Las Vegas after he inadvertently got added to their group text.
“72 Hours” is being directed by Tim Story (“Barbershop,” “The Blackening”). This marks the fifth collaboration for Hart and Story, who previously made “Think Like a Man” and the “Ride Along” series. Each of their previous outings led the box office at opening and have collectively earned a global haul of $445 million.
Matt Mider, Kevin Burrows, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg penned the script. John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment will produce with Story. Hartbeat, Counterbalance and Will Packer will also produce.
Filming is currently underway in Las Vegas.
Gooding most recently starred in Josh Ruben’s Valentine’s Day slasher “Heart Eyes” opposite Olivia Holt, Jordana Brewster and Devon Sawa.
He also returns to the “Scream” franchise’s seventh installment as Chad Meeks-Martin with Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox. The film marks Kevin Williamson’s first time directing a “Scream” movie. He wrote the script for the first “Scream” in 1996. “Scream 7” will be released on Feb. 27, 2026.
In 2024, Gooding was seen in Kyle Mooney’s directorial debut “Y2K” alongside Rachel Zegler and Alicia Silverstone. His small screen credits include “Love, Victor,” “Ballers” and “The Good Doctor.”
