Creative technology company SQNXR is bringing its Xinemarte cinematic art platform to Asia, transforming underutilized cinema spaces into premium immersive audiovisual experiences.
The rollout is scheduled to begin in May and the rest of the year in Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea, before expanding to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and China.
Malaysia-based Jazzy Group of Companies has been appointed exclusive sales representative for Xinemarte across Asia. The company is headed by CEO Joanne Goh, who also founded the Malaysia Intl. Film Festival (MIFFest).
“Cinema infrastructure is underutilized for significant portions of the day,” said Goh. “Xinemarte allows operators to activate those spaces with premium experiential content that appeals to audiences who might never attend a traditional film screening. We see enormous potential across the region.”
The platform is designed as a turnkey solution for cinema operators looking to drive off-peak attendance without major capital investment. Presentations run in 20–25 minute cycles with clear entry points to allow fluid audience movement, and content is refreshed bi-weekly with both family-friendly and adult-focused programming.
Xinemarte is the work of SQNXR creative director Ray Tijssen, a Netherlands-born audiovisual artist based in Los Angeles who works under the alias 0010×0010. His previous installations have been exhibited at MOCA Bangkok, W1 London and TODA Dubai, and have utilized technology including Samsung’s the Wall display system and Acoustic Avant Garde sound equipment. Xinemarte is built specifically around theatrical cinema screens and Dolby Atmos and surround sound systems.
“Cinemas offer something unique: purpose-built spaces for collective audiovisual immersion,” said Tijssen. “Xinemarte is designed from the ground up to exploit that potential.”
In select markets, Jazzy Group will present “Algorithmic Organisms 2.0 × Xinemarte,” an integrated exhibition featuring Tijssen’s generative audiovisual art project alongside the platform.
