Hearst Media Production Group, the company that supplies educational and informational fare to broadcast networks and their affiliates, as well as independent stations, has promoted Bryan Curb to president.
Curb replaces Frank Biancuzzo, who is retiring this summer after more than four decades in the business. Curb was most recently executive VP and general manager of educational/informational programming for Hearst Media Production Group.
Hearst Television president Michael J. Hayes, whose oversight includes HMPG, announced the promotion on Thursday.
“Bryan has nurtured and grown the success of HMPG’s educational and informational programming for more than a decade,” Hayes said. “His deep understanding of the evolving independent production marketplace, accomplishments across the network programming landscape, and familiarity with Hearst Television make him uniquely qualified to carry forward the foundation Frank built.”
HMPG was founded in 2021 after Hearst acquired Litton Entertainment. Curb has been in his most recent role since 2022, after previously serving as chief creative officer for Litton. Curb has executive produced more than 40 eries, and has earned four Emmys (and has been nominated 20 times). As exec VP, Curb’s job included program development and production, business standards and practices, sales and marketing.
Most recently, earlier this week Curb and HMPG announced the new renovation series “Home for Good” for ABC stations. He’s been involved with the revival of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” and brought the Harlem Globetrotters back to TV.
“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Bryan as HMPG has grown, and I’ve seen firsthand the vision, passion, and leadership he brings to every initiative,” Biancuzzo said. “He has helped shape the culture and growth of our organization and drive its success.”
Curb joined Litton in 2018; before that, he founded the Burbank-based TV and video production company MTO Productions. His career has included working as a director and editor on more than 100 episodes of TV, as well as on national commercials and main titles.
HMPG produces fare for linear, streaming, digital and social media platforms for domestic and international distribution in 100 countries. Besides “Weekend Adventure” on ABC stations, its weekly educational/informational (E/I) programming blocks include “CBS WKND” on CBS, “The More You Know” on NBC, “One Magnificent Morning” on the CW, “Mi Telemundo” on Telemundo and “Go Time” on independent stations. It also produces for FAST channels Xplore, The Jack Hanna Channel, Rovr Pets and Lucky Dog Channel.
