Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie Commentary (Updated April 10, 2025): With FX, Netflix, HBO, and Apple TV+ all fielding strong contenders, the supporting actress (limited) category could be one of the most competitive and charged acting races.

Leading the pack is Erin Doherty, who delivers a tour de force in the third episode of “Adolescence” as a psychiatrist trying to understand the mind of a disturbed young boy. Doherty, best known for her acclaimed role as Princess Anne in “The Crown,” proves once again that she’s a force of nature on screen.

Doherty may not be the only nominee from the series.

Christine Tremarco, a long-respected British TV actress, is emotionally devastating as the mother of Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper). Her final episode opposite Stephen Graham, who plays her husband Eddie, is a master class in restrained, heartbreaking drama — and an Emmy clip waiting to happen.

A possible long shot, young Fatima Bojang is electrifying in the second episode of “Adolescence” as Jade, the best friend of the deceased Katie. Her raw and magnetic screen presence, with streaming tears down her face that lock the viewer into her haunting eyes, would make for a worthy companion nominee alongside her young co-star Cooper.

Strong buzz also surrounds several “Black Mirror” episodes, including “Hotel Reverie,” featuring Emma Corrin in an extraordinary role as a classic Hollywood actress hiding secrets behind a vintage silver screen persona. In “Common People,” Tracee Ellis Ross delivers a funny and unsettling turn as the salesperson of a highly questionable health care plan. I wouldn’t count out Patsy Ferran, who plays the AI guide in the Paul Giamatti-led episode “Eulogy,” who is an integral part to the season’s best episode.

(The list of predicted nominees and contenders is incomplete and will be updated every Thursday throughout the TV Awards season.)
