Edgar Ramírez to Star in Onyx Collective Drama Pilot From Roberto Patino, Cassius Corrigan

Onyx Collective has ordered a drama pilot with Edgar Ramírez attached to play one of the leads, Variety has learned.

The untitled pilot hails from writers and co-creators Roberto Patino and Cassius Corrigan. Both also serve as executive producers, with Patino also set as showrunner. Ramírez will executive produce in addition to starring.

The official logline states, “In a cutthroat battle to dominate the Manhattan skyline, two rival real estate developers risk everything — wealth, family and their souls — as their ambition turns into obsession, and their partnership turns into war.”

Ramírez will play Moises Saladín, described as “the charismatic heir to a Latin American real estate empire, whose unyielding ambition blurs the line between visionary genius and ruthless tactician.”

Oly Obst and Luke Maxwell of 3 Arts are also executive producers on the pilot, along with Liz Tigelaar and Stacey Silverman for Best Day Ever. Donahue Peebles III executive produces as well, with Alonso Ruizpalacios (“La Cocina,” “Andor”) set to direct and executive produce.

Ramírez is a two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, first for his work in the miniseries “Carlos” and again for his leading role in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” His recent TV credits include “Dr. Death” Season 2 and “Wolf Like Me” at Peacock as well as “Florida Man” at Netflix. In film, Ramírez recently starred in “Arenas” and the Oscar-winning film “Emilia Pérez.”

He is repped by Impression Entertainment, CAA, Hirsch Wallerstein, and Narrative.

Patrino was previously the showrunner and creator of the Max limited series “DMZ,” which debuted in 2022. His other TV credits include “Westworld” at HBO, “Sons of Anarchy” at FX,” and NBC’s “Prime Suspect.” He is also a co-executive producer on the Netflix series “Zero Day” starring Robert De Niro and Angela Bassett.

Corrigan is known for writing, directing, producing, and starring in the HBO film “Huracán.” He then produced the film “The Birthday Cake” at Starz and “Alone at Night” at Hulu. He also produced and directed the feature documentary “The Unbreakable Tatiana Suarez” at HBO.
