Disney is riding the merch wave in full force ahead of the live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch,” out May 23.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated release, Disney has collaborated with dozens of brands on limited-edition merch and collectibles inspired by the beloved film. While most of the product launches have been fairly typical (Funko Pops, Crocs, Lego sets), one of the most unique and sought-after items is is a Lilo & Stitch x Spam collab.
While the L&S cans are available online and in-store at all major retailers nationwide, consumers will not be able to pick the specific can they receive, and it will be at random what they receive. You can shop the classic SPAM product option via online retailers like Target and Walmart and hope to receive one of the three limited-edition cans while supplies last. But if you don’t want to take the chance, they’re also reselling on Ebay.
“Both the SPAM® brand and The Walt Disney Studios have created timeless connections with families across generations, making this collaboration a natural fit,” Daniel Kubiak, senior brand manager for the SPAM® brand, said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring our passionate fan communities together to celebrate and enjoy quality time with their Ohana, whether watching the film or creating their favorite SPAM® dish in the kitchen.”
Like the original 2002 animated film, “Lilo & Stitch” follows a young orphan who is being raised by her teenaged sister, Nani. Lilo develops a close bond with Stitch, a dog-like alien experiment whose raison d’etre is creating destruction.
