Dennis Quaid appeared on the “Out of Order” podcast and got choked up while watching a scene from “The Parent Trap,” Nancy Meyers’ 1998 comedy classic in which he starred opposite Lindsay Lohan and Natasha Richardson. The latter actor died in March 2009 after she fell while skiing and sustained a head injury. Richardson was only 45 years old at the time.

“My heart breaks every time,” Quaid said. “She’s just an incredible person. If there’s anybody I’d want to work with again, it would be her.”

“She was a great person, besides being an amazing actor to work with. She really was. The way she went… just a little accident on a ski slope,” Quad continued as his voice cracked. “I really miss her, but there’s a whole generation and continues to be more generations actually of kids that were 8 years old at the time, a couple of years later, saw the movie 42 times on VHS… who’ve rented it with their kids now and watch it 42 times. It turned out to be probably the most watched film of anything I’ve done.”

Quaid and Lohan shared fond memories of Richard during a “Parent Trap” cast reunion in 2020, with Lohan saying: “Natasha had such an elegance and grace, and she was so maternal to me.”

“[She was] just somebody so giving and so glad to be there and transmitted that joy of being able to do what we do and just made everything that much better,” Quaid added at the time.
