Bryan Cranston is sharing an update about the highly anticipated “Malcolm in the Middle” reboot.

In a recent conversation with People, Cranston spoke about how great it feels to return to his role of Hal, the patriarch of the Wilkerson family.

“Slipping back into that character of Hal for me was so rewarding — I missed him,” Cranston said. “It’s been almost 20 years since we said goodbye. And he’s a sweet, lovable man. He’s a lovable guy, and it was fun to see all my whole family back together. It was great.”

The original “Malcolm in the Middle” ran for 151 episodes across seven seasons from 2000-2006. The show follows Malcolm Wilkerson, a gifted teen who struggles to fit in as the middle child in a dysfunctional family.

Along with Cranston, the “Malcolm in the Middle” reboot will see the return of original cast members Jane Kaczmarek, Frankie Muniz, Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield.

Erik Per Sullivan has been replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark as the youngest Wilkerson child, Dewy. Variety exclusively reported that Kiana Madeira will star as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend. Other series stars include Anthony Timpano (“Riverdale,” “Nancy Drew”), Vaughan Murrae (“Before I Change My Mind,” “The Way Home”) and Keeley Karsten (“The Fabelmans,” “Hunters”). Timpano and Murrae will play Malcolm’s youngest siblings, Jamie and Kelly, respectively. Karsten will play Malcolm’s daughter, Leah.

The official logline for the four-part reboot reads, “Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
